The Stingray on the other hand will surpass the SR M1903 rifle in just about every way including size, yikes!, and youâll be wanting a good rifle for this chapter, so consider selling it off for now if you can afford the space it takes up. The Broken Butterfly is another great addition for a high powered hand cannon â especially if you arenât using the Punisherâs penetration power, and will come with a free recipe to make more of its very rare ammo - just make sure you have room for it. You should also browse the Merchantâs trading options to know which items youâll want to save up your Spinel for. The Exclusive Upgrade Ticket should catch your eye, as it can be used to gain an exclusive upgrade depending on which weapon you cash it in for, that canât be gained otherwise without fully upgrading a weapon first which you can't do just yet. If youâre still debating on handguns, be sure to look near the Typewriter for a File - Merchant Tip The Handgun for You!, and consider sending at least one weapon to storage for now like the TMP or Bolt Thrower. Treasure - Vintage CompassOnce youâre done talking to the Merchant, be sure to exit the stable and check around its back side. Kick some barrels out of the way to find an alternate entrance inside behind where heâs stationed, and you can locate a chest with a Vintage Compass to sell. Castle Treasure 1 - Vintage CompassNow that youâre on the move again, head up the stairs and check out the balcony overlook with your binoculars to spot a Zealot dressed in red signaling the large gates to close behind him. You can also look around this area to zoom in on a catapult installation to the left, and a legion of crossbow-toting Zealots below. Head down the nearby stairs as you witness more Zealots pass by a large iron gate they wonât bother you yet, and then head right into a large chapel room with screens blocking your view. advertisementThe Zealot in this room is busy mutilating himself, but once you draw close, heâll erupt with a new version of the Plaga. This Plaga Mandibula is a much scarier and huge version of the parasite youâve seen sprout up. Take care not to get close as much as possible, as - similar to the Chainsaw Villager â it can lunge at you and tear you in half in one hit if you donât parry at the right time. Thankfully, theyâre still susceptible to Flash Grenades, or you can mow it down at range with your new rifle or magnum. Be warned, these Plaga can also attach themselves to the ceiling above to dodge your attacks, then leap down from above to strike, so be ready to adjust your aim accordingly. Killing him should yield a Boot Knife, which is the castleâs version of expendable kitchen knives you can use as a backup or craft more bolts with. Be sure to also break the large urns behind the chapel near the door, as they will often take the place of yellow crates or barrels in this area. The Castle GateAfter leaving the next room with a few barrels, be sure to use any gunpowder to craft extra rifle ammo â it will come in handy. As you head up the stairs, a Zealot with a skull cap will order his followers to open fire with crossbows, who are hiding behind the battlements above. Take cover behind an alcove on the left, and use your pistol to take out the one Zealot closest to you on ground level. advertisementThen, pull out your rifle and peek over the side to snipe the crossbow Zealots as they pivot out of cover and into the open. If you hear the noise of an arrow being loosed, duck back into cover or get ready to parry the shot. Once all four are down, proceed up the curving staircase to the right. Youâll be welcomed with a catapult exploding a small structure to your right, which should alert you of whatâs to come. The Zealots on the battlements above will start launching flaming projectiles at you that will deal a ton of damage, and more annoyingly â knock Ashley down so that you have to pick her back up. See the Castle Gate Map above for Item locations, breakable barrels, Treasures, potential blast zones, and the line of sight you need to detonate each barrel by a catapult!Luckily, the catapults are limited in the targets they can hit â and the first is right in front of you, with a Zealot just beyond. Let the Zealot walk into the blast and stand your ground, and instead look up against the far wall to spot an explosive barrel you can snipe to detonate the first catapult. With the area clear, run through to the other side and prepare to take down a Zealot on the stairs, and be wary of another coming from behind to grab Ashley. advertisementSlowly move out onto the platform at the top of the stairs and hang back while the area in front of you gets blasted. Off to the left is the large gate that canât be opened normally, so donât bother trying to dart across to it. Instead, slowly move to the right towards the small bridge, and turn around to look up at the rampart above where another catapult is, and an explosive barrel is just in sight, allowing you to take it down. If you didn't shoot the barrel for the other catapult that was above the path you ran through earlier, look right and upwards from the small bridge to spot it. Your next goal is to head to the left after crossing the small bridge to another crossing, but catapults will pelt the area in front of the bridge with more explosions. You can try going right first past a breakable barrel into an open room, but thereâs a Zealot in here whose head will explode into a Plaga Mandibula when attacked, so be ready to either lure it into a catapult blast or hit it hard before it can attack you. Wait until a catapult blast hits the area in front of the thin bridge before racing across where the crossbowmen were positioned to a large circular rampart with a pit in the middle, this should give you a good vantage spot to take stock of the other active catapults while putting you out of range. If you destroyed the earlier two catapults, the other two canât hit you here, and you can stand on the west side and snipe a barrel just peeking out by the catapult high to the left. If you can't seem to hit it with your pistol, you may need a scoped rifle to take it out. advertisementCheck the very back of this circular area for Resources L, and then look for a pit along the circular walkway to drop down below. Thereâs a cannon down here, and you can bring it up to the top by shooting the metal ball with yellow marks on it. Break the yellow barrel in the next small room before heading out to where more of the crossbowmen were stationed, and climb back up to the top ramparts. As soon as you reach the top, slowly walk up the wooden ramp and turn around to spot the last explosive barrel next to the catapult to the right of the sealed door, and take it out. If you couldnât hit the barrel on the far northwest catapult, you should be right under it now, and this will take out all active catapults. Treasure - Elegant BangleHop down the ledge after destroying all the catapults and look to the left of a locked door leading back to where the Plaga Mandibula was. Behind some breakable barrels is a red chest holding an Elegant Bangle you can sell. Castle Treasure 2 - Elegant BangleadvertisementHead back over to the newly installed cannon, but beware of a Zealot guarding it, and another that will run from the sealed door to try and grab Ashley when youâre not looking. Take control of the cannon, and aim at the large door to make your own entrance! Be wary, the Zealot with the skull cap will appear afterwards to ambush you, but you can simply hop back onto the cannon and turn him into paste with a well-placed cannonball. With the way open and all the defenses destroyed, take Ashley and head into the newly opened area, where youâll find more breakable barrels and a Request - Destroy the Blue Medallions 3. Itâs possible you may have already spotted several of them, some are hiding behind walls while others are high up out of reach in the area you just came from, and you can see our Request Guide link or image above for details on each location. advertisementReach the CourtyardHeading inside the castle proper, youâll find a large entryway leading to a grand audience chamber, with the Merchant just off to the right as you first enter. Be sure to sell your new treasures and repair your Combat Knife if you used it at all, and save at the nearby Typewriter. As you cross the audience chamber, youâll be greeted by the castellan of this dangerous fortress - Ramon Salazar. The crazy diminutive psychopath will demand you hand over Ashley, and when you refuse, heâll sic some more Zealots on you. Youâll have to fend off five of them at once, and two are armed with spiked shields that will repel normal shots or attacks. This is a great opportunity to quickly mount an attachable mine to your Bolt Thrower and aim it at their feet. Using that or a grenade will quickly explode the whole group and shatter their shields. Otherwise, go for more penetrating shots from weapons like the Punisher, Shotgun, or Rifle, or aim for their legs if possible to stun them first. Just be sure to turn as soon as youâve knocked the shield Zealots off their feet, as another Zealot will try to sneak up behind you and bash you from behind. Watch out for the Zealots with scythes, as they can try to rush you with an overhead attack that can breach your block, or a horizontal swipe you need to dodge and avoid. They may also throw their weapons at range if they have a replacement under their sleeves. advertisementWhen the Zealot with the skullcap tries to rush you, donât bother with headshots as theyâll just bounce off him. Instead, go for the legs to stagger him, and follow up with a suplex melee attack to put him down. With the Audience Chamber door locked, youâll need to find a new way to progress, but be sure to take a look around the large chamber first for a host of items A cabinet to the right of the locked door holds a Yellow Herb, and each of the long walls are lined with urns to break. Since you canât get through the barred doors to treasure, and donât have keys for the Square Lock Box and Locked Drawer, look to the left of the locked door to find a spot you can boost Ashley through. Thereâs even more urns to break back here, and a crack in the wall leading to a new area. Treasure - Elegant Perfume BottleBefore slipping through the crack in the wall, head down the other path that leads down below the locked audience chamber door and back up again to the far wall, where a red chest holds a Elegant Perfume Bottle for you to claim. Castle Treasure 4 - Elegant Perfume Bottle 1The DungeonsadvertisementTreasure - RubyAs you slip through the hole in the wall and into the rooms above the stairs down to the dungeons, look to the left to spot some screens blocking a partially blocked hallway. Up above is a hanging censer holding a treasure you can shoot down, and a Ruby will drop down in front of a cabinet you can open for more items. Castle Treasure 3 - Ruby 1Head right from the crack in the wall to find a stairs down into a dark and bloody dungeon, where the bodies of tortured victims can be found. Thereâs a File - Caretakerâs Note on the right next to what we can only guess is the Caretaker himself, and another body on the left next to a Red Herb, by a locked door requiring a key. See the Dungeons Map above for Item locations, breakable barrels, Treasures, and more!Youâll have to head through the left path instead, where you can grab Handgun Ammo on a window sill, and Shotgun Shells in a small cell down the stairs on the left. Something lurking nearby will begin to get louder. At the end of this passage is a long hall ending with the body of a Zealot holding the Dungeon Key, with bloody words you can inspect that read âHa muerto la luzâ, which roughly translates to âthe light is deadâ. advertisementUnfortunately, the moment you turn to leave, the floor will break open and send Leon crashing down to come face to sewn-up face with a Garrador. This clawed warrior may be blind, but he can hear pretty well, and will immediately run and attack at whatever makes noise. As soon as you regain control, turn and start creeping away, being mindful of the many hooked chains that can rattle if you run into them. Try zig-zagging through them, and then hug the right wall and make a turn to quickly creep down the long hallway before the Garrador can catch up. Youâll be in a larger chamber now, but youâll still want to be very careful with how you move and shoot. Any blasts from your gun will cause him to rampage to the source of the shot, so instead move quietly and avoid the chains until he passes by you to expose the weak point on his back. You can shoot this point to deal a ton of damage - but thereâs also a much stealthier option. Creep up when he stops wildly swinging and turns his back, and press the prompt to stab his weak spot. It will deal massive damage, and let you retreat to a safe distance while the Garrado wildly spins about in vain attempt to hit you. Just be sure not to back into a chain, or heâll immediately charge at you to lunge for an attack. Note that if you have a fully upgraded Combat Knife and at least two other small knives, you can kill him without ever making a sound. Unfortunately, the durability lost on each of these hits is a lot, which will require the backup knives to fully defeat him. advertisementIf you donât have enough knives, youâll need to instead wait until heâs a good distance away to shoot his weak point the rifle can deal increased damage to weak spots, then creep away before he comes charging over to investigate. Itâs usually a good idea to keep moving constantly, as he may just decide to charge in a random direction to slash wildly, so try not to back yourself into a corner. Once enough stabs or high powered shots hit the parasite on his back, heâll go down swinging, and you can collect a Red Beryl from his corpse. Be sure to break the urns for loot as well as the two Handgun Ammo around the floor, then slowly open the gate using the wheel crank. Given that several chains will bonk into you while trying to open the crank, it's highly advised you do this only after defeating the Garrador. The ladder will head back up to reunite with Ashley, and you can use the Dungeon Key to move forward to another ladder to climb up to a new area. advertisementTreasure - SpinelFor some reason, there's a Spinel in this room marked as a treasure. You can find it in this storeroom by moving among the shelves to find a cabinet with the gem on top, near a Green Herb opposite it by a breakable barrel. Castle Treasure 5 - SpinelClockwork Castellan LocationWhen you break the barrel next to the Green Herb, look upwards to the left on top of the shelf racks to find another clockwork toy hiding above, and shoot it to destroy the castellan toy. Clockwork Castellan 7How to Solve the Treasury Sword PuzzleThe next room will lead you into a large Treasury, and thereâs a lot to take in. The far door is sealed, and has four wall-mounted relief sculptures adorning either side. From left to right they depict a Knight holding a Golden Sword, a King knighting him with a Rusted Sword, the Knight fighting with a missing sword, and a grave with an Iron Sword. Even with the missing swords, theyâll be in the wrong positions, so take them all, and turn your attention to the large gate with a sculpture on the other side with another sword embedded in it. The gate has three symbols of a deer, eagle, and snake â and they correspond to gongs that line the wall. Look to the left of the gate to shoot the gong with the deer symbol, then look through the gate to shoot the eagle and snake gong on the right wall. advertisementThis will lower the gate, allowing you to take the Bloodied Sword Be sure to also loot the urn and cabinet. With all four swords, return to the wall reliefs Give the Knight on the far left the Iron Sword Give the King doing the knighting the Golden Sword Give the Knight in battle the Bloodied Sword Give the gravestone the Rusted SwordWith all swords in the correct position, the door will open. Help yourself to the assorted crates and urns inside, but watch for a Viper hiding in one. Treasure - Gold BangleAfter you open up the treasury door, check the end of the hall past the crates and urns to find a red chest holding a Gold Bangle you can loot. Castle Treasure 6 - Gold BangleThe door beyond will lead back to the Audience Chamber, but you still need a way past the large door below. The gate to your left also has insigniaâs that correspond with gongs along the upper wall, but youâll need to find them. advertisementFirst, head all the way down the walkway to knock down a ladder for easy access back to the ground floor and Merchant. Then, return to the gate and hit the gong next to it with the fish icon. Move right to the closest chandelier, and jump across to the other side. Thereâs a gate opposite the sealed one that sports the same insignia, only this one has a snake icon on the gong above it. Hitting it will open up both gates. Treasure - Golden HourglassBefore moving on, head back to the chandelier in the middle of the Audience Chamber, and hop across to the far side to find a hole you can drop through. Youâll now be next to a red treasure chest that holds a Golden Hourglass, and you can unlock the door to leave. Castle Treasure 7 - Golden HourglassHead through the upper door in the Audience Chamber, and turn right to open a cabinet for an item. As you head down, youâll get an unwanted message from Ramon Salazar as he taunts you. Clear the lower area of urns and items before heading into a side room to find a Typewriter and a File - Parasites and their Ecology Vol. 2. When youâre ready and geared up, head through the far door. advertisementThe Water HallBe prepared - this fight will be a long and grueling one, and the enemies will be relentless. As soon as you enter, stop and pull out your rifle. Look for a Zealot on a high ledge ahead of you to the right and take out the crossbow Zealot now instead of later. As soon as you move up towards the slot for a wheel in the middle of the room, the ambush will truly begin. Two groups of Zealots will run up from the stairs in both corners, headed by two shield Zealots. Fire an attachable mine or toss a grenade into the middle column when the two armored Zealots converge to blast through their defense. advertisementYou wonât be able to rest on that alone however, as there will be four more Zealots with scythes and flails coming in from the sides to flank you, or try and pick up Ashley. Swap to your shotgun to take out anyone getting close, and stab anyone who picks up Ashley in the back before they can run off. Try to advance forward as you clear out the rest of this first group, because two more Zealots will be jumping down from the balconies closest to the door you came in from in an attempt to hit you from the sides. One has a shield and will likely have a plaga parasite, so be ready to blast through the shield and then snipe the tentacle when it emerges. See the Water Hall Map above for Item locations, breakable barrels, traps, Treasures, and more!Once the reinforcements are down, youâll get a bit of breathing room, so be sure to loot the area, and look for urns along the top and bottom. Thereâs Handgun Ammo along the top, and a Red Herb along the bottom. When youâre ready for the next part of the gauntlet, head to the top right stairs going down to find a lower area you can drop down to â but stay up top first. There should be three or four Zealots in sight from your position against the far wall near the geysers of black water. Snipe them all, and at least three will sprout Plaga Mandibula after you pop their heads. advertisementThis is your cue to hop down and run against the far wall as they start to give chase along with a few other Zealots down here. You have two main options for dealing with the Plaga Mandibula, as they can be a real pain to deal with, especially in a group. Against the far western wall, you can find an explosive barrel, which works well when you lure a group of them over and then detonate it. This may not kill them, but you can also try to corral them before tossing a Flash Grenade into the crowd to instantly deal with the trio of Plaga, then lure the rest towards the barrel. Bear in mind at least one of them has an armored helmet to prevent headshots. Once the bottom floor is clear, slowly search the room for urns, plus Shotgun Shells by where you dropped down. Look between the two raised stairways to find a statue holding a Halo Wheel that youâll need to activate all the stairs in this room. Look along the bottom right of the room for a slot to put the Halo Wheel, but donât start turning it yet. A crossbow Zealot will appear opposite you on the floor above, followed by a shield Zealot who will jump down. Strafe and snipe the crossbow, then get close to blast apart the defensive Zealot before turning the wheel to gain access back upstairs. advertisementAs soon as you return to the main platform, get ready to run right back downstairs. Two snipers will appear on the balconies on the right side, but more importantly another group of Zealots including one with a shield will start to rush your position. By heading back down, you can stay out of range of the snipers, and toss a grenade the moment the group reaches the bottom of the stairway, and mop up the rest who survive. After you deal with them, slowly climb back up and use your rifle on the crossbow Zealots along the balcony. Keep a lookout for any other Zealots that come charging your way, and retreat out of range of arrows to take them out. Once everyone has been dealt with, you can finally interact with the wheel slot in the middle of the main floor, giving you access to the hall up ahead. Make sure youâve looted everything you can. Head up the stairs, and then check the bottom and top for small stairs up to the balconies the crossbow Zealots were stationed to loot their items. Moving up the hall, youâll come to a circular pool with Resources L on the side, and Gunpowder nearby, but a large gap is stopping you from reaching the far door. Use the Halo Wheel on the slot in front of the black pool to find one platform that can be raised up â but two more will also need to come up, and the wheel slots are high up out of your reach. advertisementIn order for this to work, Ashley will have to go it alone by boosting her up the nearby ledge, which means youâll be running interference. This part can be tricky, as youâll need to expertly snipe incoming Zealots who come to grab her. A single rifle shot or a couple pistol shots should do the trick per Zealot â but thatâs not all you have to deal with. Theyâll come out of both wings to chase after Ashley, stopping to walk when they get close. It wonât be long after she finishes turning the first wheel, before other Zealots start hopping down to come and attack you directly. That means youâll now have to swap between ranged sniping against targets chasing Ashley to the second wheel slot, and blasting away others that get too close for comfort. You can try to set up an early warning system by placing attachable mines near your position to slow their advance, but eventually youâll have to use a shotgun or magnum to blast through shield-toting enemies. Since Ashley doesnât exactly have a health bar so much as a meter for being taken away, you can afford to have her get grabbed for a few moments before you knock them down. advertisementRemember if you run low on rifle ammo, you can use the Resources L you grabbed earlier to craft more, or just swap to your pistol for semi-precise shots. In the event you focus too much on Ashley and find yourself overwhelmed by melee attackers, swap to a Flash Grenade to clear the area and quickly mop them up with your shotgun or pistol before returning your sights to Ashley. Once she finishes the second wheel slot and raises up all the platforms, sheâll quickly hop down to join you. Depending on how many Zealots are left, you can either mop up the rest and loot their bodies, or race across the platforms to the far side. Break the few urns here, and bid the Water Hall goodbye.
